Q:
My credit is bad,
am I wasting my time?
A: No. Almost everyone who has fallen behind
on house payments have had some credit problems in the past. We help
people regardless of credit.
Q:
Why did my
mortgage company send me my payment back?
A: After your mortgage company accelerates your
loan, they no longer accept a payment less than the full amount due.
They are likely to send it back to you, asking for the whole amount.
The reason for this has its origin in case law.
Q:
What do I do if
someone stops by the house?
A: It is possible that investors or bank representatives
will come by and look at your house. This is their way of evaluating
the condition of the collateral on your mortgage. The bank may be
checking that it is not vacant.
Q:
How
much time do I have?
A: It depends on which state your property is in. In Cook county
Illinois, the courts are behind by up to 20 months. In a case like this,
you could actually stay in your home without making payments for a very
long time. Other states, like Texas for instance, will schedule your home
for foreclosure sale just 3 weeks after serving you with notice. Time is
no friend when you’re behind. Take steps to get yourself caught up. The
longer you wait, the more you pay in court costs, late charges, and
attorney fees.
Q: Can HomeSavers USA help with my
other bills?
A: Not directly. We specialize with one thing, catching up your
mortgage. We work closely with many non-profit outreach groups and credit
counselors. Click on the side bar for "Help with other Debts".
You will find some helpful links there.
Q. Can I get help immediately?
A. Yes. You may apply for assistance right now. Just click "Help
Me Now!!" on the side bar. In just two days, we’ll call you with
the news. (Three days if you submit on a weekend). This is faster than
calling us and receiving our assistance packet through the mail. Of course
you are welcomed to do both.
